Tutorial 6
Tutorial Number 6:
In this Tutorial we create a simple 3 color Logo as on the left. This is a very Important tutorial because it covers important issues that will help when you try more complicated artworks.
Step 1 :
Use the Create Ellipses and Circles Tool to create an oval as on the right. Make it 19cm x 23cm and it fits nicely on an A4 page.
Open the Color Editor and Give it a Golden Yellow fill using the Formula above. Give it a Black Stroke 8px thick
Step 2 :
Use the Create Ellipses and Circles Tool to create an oval as on the left. Fit the Oval inside the Golden Oval as on the Left.
Use the Formula Below to set the Green Color
Give it a Black Stroke 8px thick the same as the Gold Oval.
Step 3 :
Use the Create Ellipses and Circles Tool to create an oval as on the left. Fit the Oval inside the Green Oval as on the Left.
Set the Color White. Give it a Black Stroke 8px thick the same as the Gold Oval and Green Oval.
Step 4 :
Select the Green Oval and the White Oval and choose Path > Difference.
You should have an artwork like the one on the Left.
Step 5:
Use the Create Ellipses and Circles Tool to create an oval as on the left. Fit the Oval inside the Gold Oval as on the Right.
Set the Color White. Give it a Black Stroke 8px thick the same as the Gold Oval and Green Oval.
Step 6:
Use the Create Ellipses and Circles Tool to create an oval as on the right. Fit the Oval inside the White Oval as on the Right.
Set the Color Green. Give it a Black Stroke 8px thick the same as the Gold Oval and Green Oval.
Step 7:
Use the Create Stars and Polygons Tool to create an Hexagon as on the right. Fit the Hexagon inside the Green Oval as on the Right.
Set the Color Gold. Give it a Black Stroke 8px thick the same as the Gold Oval and Green Oval.
Step 7:
Use the Create Rectangles and Squares Tool to create an Three Rectangles as on the left. Fit the Rectangles inside the Gold Hexagon as on the Left.
Set the Color Green. Give it a Black Stroke 8px thick.
Step 8:
Use the Create Rectangles and Squares Tool to create a Rectangle as on the left. Fit the Rectangle as on the Left.
Set the Color White. Give it a Black Stroke 8px thick.
Step 9:
Use the Create Rectangles and Squares Tool to create a Rectangle as on the right. Fit the Rectangle inside the White Rectangle as on the right.
Set the Color Green. Give it a Black Stroke 8px thick.
Step 10:
Use the Text Tool to create the Text on the right. I used the Type face called Copperplate Gothic Bold.
Set the Color Gold. Give it a Black Stroke 6px thick.
With the Text selected make sure you Choose Path > Outset to set the Stroke (outline) outside the Text otherwise the Outline will be half inside and half outside the Text Fill area.
Step 11:
Use the Text Tool to create the text on the Right. Use Capitols. I used the same Text as for Light Ale. In this case I also added a space between each X. Use the Bezier Tool to Draw the simple curve you see on the right. Use The Edit Paths tool to fine tune the arc. We will use this arc as a path to curve the text.
Step 12:
Select both the Text and the Curve and choose Text > Put on Path from the options menu

Step 13:
Set the Stroke to White with a thickness of 6.00pxmake sure you Choose Path > Outset to set the Stroke.
Click on the arc to select it and give it a Stroke of 0.
Step 14:
Use the Text Tool to create the text on the Right. Use Capitols. I used the same Text as for Light Ale. Use the Bezier Tool to Draw the simple curve you see on the right. Use The Edit Paths tool to fine tune the arc. We will use this arc as a path to curve the text as before. Select both the Text and the Curve and choose Text > Put on Path from the options menu. Follow the sam procedure as with the previous text giving it a White Stroke of 6.00px and choosing Path > Outset to set the Stroke.
We now have a Three Color Vector Logo that can be Scaled to any size and set to any color scheme. This sort of artwork is Ideal for Spot Color Printing and Screen Printing. There is a detailed description of the

Make sure that you save this exercise on your Hard Drive we will be using it in later Tutorials.
